Could your Toothache be a Sinus Infection?

Toothaches are no laughing matter, and anyone who has experienced a toothache can tell you that it is one of the worst pains to deal with.  Toothaches have been ranked in the top 15 worst pains that a person could have, alongside of childbirth, migraines, and other unpleasants.  But did you know that your toothache could possibly be coming from a sinus infection? Yes! With all of the "gunk" in the air here, your sinuses may actually be the culprit for your late night woes and aches.  Your sinuses, scientifically termed your maxillary sinuses, are located above your top teeth, specifically the back molars in your top jaw.  When pressure builds up in your sinuses (which is inevitable with all of the pollen in the air here), it in turn causes pressure to build up around the roots of the teeth, causing discomfort, and sometimes can mimic what seems to be a severe toothache. Of course, not all toothaches are caused by sinus infections, so if you suspect that you need dental treatment, call us as soon as possible so that we can help you determine the cause of your discomfort!
